The Metro Detroit & Southeast Michigan Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) was established in 1972 and serves Michigan’s eastern lower peninsula. With an active board of 30 members, we produce three annual events and offer resources and assistance to support all persons with insulin dependent diabetes. JDRF also provides services and support to help patients and families better manage their disease. Our programs support the physical, emotional, and social needs of those with type 1 diabetes (of all ages) and those who care for them. Visit our Education and Support page for detail. Diabetes costs Michigan residents an additional $3.5 billion a year in lost productivity due to premature death, disability and illness. Our Chapter contributes millions annually to diabetes research. We take pleasure in widening public awareness and concern for diabetes, and the signs of hope that medical research promises so that we may live in an insulin free world. Please join us in finding a cure and improving the lives of those affected by diabetes.
